this is what it means to be sober

• i can hold one hundred horses on the palm of my hand without falling from the world’s tallest building

  • i can hold my breath in the ocean 

  • i can hold you 

• sometimes the car engine fails because you ate one too many animal parts before the age of twenty seven 

• the cathedral stays open past midnight on odd days of the week 

• there are expired lightbulbs that still work 

• angel birds don’t look like angels at all 

• i still think the world will crush me 

• i get really sad when i think about people i love
